When she's calm and happy, small flowers bloom in her wake, but if she's emotional in a way that makes her melancholy or angry, plants and flowers will wither and die.

blessing: healing via time manipulation Her gift of life (healing) extends to the ill and injured, something she cannot do in a non-AU setting. When she does use this magic, she gives off a soft blue and white aura, visible to all. In order to use this magic, she needs to generally know when to rewind to. Most of the time that's very obvious: '𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑝𝑜𝑛 𝑝𝑖𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑛' for example. But in illness, she risks rewinding not far enough, to a time when the person felt well but sickness was already brewing.

The target of her unchecked fury will find they can never settle down or feel home again, even if that home was another's heart. general info

History:

Claire's magic and ability to create life is something she continued to study and excel at, and her reputation grew as her blessings continued to be given. During the first hundred years, she stuck strictly to plants time magic. However, healing is ingrained in Claire, and the ability to manipulate time allows her to put the body back in sync with itself, to be put back together before the injury took place or an illness took root.

At some point, she assisted in the birth of a stillborn goat, but after holding the kid in her arms and concentrating on the exact moment things went wrong within its body, the infant let out a small bleat, then clumsily unfolded itself from her arms. Time rewound and mended, resulting in a perfectly healthy goat. After this event, she became more highly sought after and was elevated in status; eventually, requests were made for her presence or blessing for women in labor. To date, she has only sent her blessing and has not made an appearance at the live birth of a child. To appear would feel as if she's choosing which children deserve her blessing and who does not, a feeling she doesn't enjoy.

𝐙𝐀𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐔𝐒 ➢ Both intercept the same prayer of a young child whose mother has been the victim of a deadly attack. While Claire cannot bring anyone back from the dead, Zagreus's magic boosts hers, and for the first and only time, she's able to succeed. After, in her anger at the assault and trauma inflicted, Zagreus talks her down from losing control of her magic and breaking time.

Things to explore:
✸ Claire and a long-term relationship. 800 years is a very long time; she's forgotten everything, including the 'Fraser' part of her name. This is the time to have her romantically linked to someone, whether we've had a long history of CR or not. There's the possibility for more than one dalliance in that span of time, so I'm willing to talk something out, and work out what any implications outside of the event this may have.

✸ Claire as a parent. How would this work? She'll have 'adopted' kiddos of course, so to be called a mother, or to have that place in someone's life would be fulfilling for her.

✸ Her ability to manipulate time could be used for all kinds of things, and if there's a particular situation to play with this ability would be fun. Double points if it goes sideways and she begins fracturing time.

—— Solvunn Home ——

Claire's home is not quite as far back in the woods as the picture would suggest; she does have some sense of self-preservation. Tucked away in the Primary Settlement, she's close to the treeline with enough space for her garden and a small shed. The garden is seasonal and when she's home, Claire can most often be found there. The shed used to house the bee houses in the winter, but after event 18, all the bees were lost. Now, the shed is just big enough to serve as part storage, part small guest home. It fits a twin bed (just a small cot with blankets and pillows), a tiny area to wash hands, and a small table to sit.

Inside her home, the downstairs consists of a cozy living room with donated and second-hand mismatched furnishings. There are more plants than anything else, of all different varieties. The kitchen has a wall of growing herbs, and on the counter are jars of labeled tea blends. There's a table large enough for four, none of the chairs match.

Upstairs is divided in two halves; her room with a full-size bed, bureau, and mirror, with the washroom behind a closed door. The other side of the room overlooks the garden and is where she stores all of her herbs, salves, medical supplies, and other tools for healing. Again, there are plants galore, with one plant specifically home to a very special spider that once expelled itself from Michael's mouth.

—— Horizon ——

Claire's Horizon domain is a quaint little cottage surrounded by wildflowers. Previously, with no real idea what to do and missing Jamie, she'd created Lallybroch, but now her home better suits her style. Still made of stone, she finds a certain charm in the cottage, as this appeared when she brought to mind the cozy cottage home she used to read about in Bree's books.

The path and surrounding front area are an explosion of wildflowers, similar to her home in Solvunn during the warm months. Venturing around back, one will find a greenhouse filled with pots and plants of various kinds, and it's typically where Claire can be found. Close by is a stone sitting area with cushions, a firepit in the center for the crisp nights she likes to conjure for herself now and again when it's too hot in reality.

On the other side of her house is a small, nondescript building, but inside is where she teaches anyone who wants to learn about the anatomy and physiology of a human body on a 'real' cadaver, or as close to it as the Horizon gets. Inside her actual home, the setup is nice and cozy with large chairs for reading and an abundance of classic novels from Earth; for her, 'classics' go back to the 17th century and stop in the early 20th. There is a leaning toward Scottish poets and authors, but plenty of British and American writers are represented as well.

The kitchen is well-stocked with a variety of tea blends she's taken the time to put together, and the hearth, when lit, is always welcoming with a kettle ready to boil at a moment's notice. There's a small space where Claire can sit and experiment with plants and magic without destroying any real plant life in the process, and at any given time a random assortment of both failures and successes can be found. Plants native to Abraxas and Earth can both be found, as well as plants from planets she's been introduced to by others.

The color scheme inside is jewel tones of blues and greens, mirroring her future taste without knowing it.

Arrival Scenario: Because Claire was on her way to live this life anyway, she'll be arriving and heading to Solvunn, a little stressed that her family is at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Claire has a fantastic green thumb. She was a healer in the 18th century in a place called Castle Leoch, before taking her skills on the road, and is well-versed in herbs and plants re: their medical properties. It was serious for her; she studied the previous healer's records and with the help of her then-friend Geillis Duncan, filled in the blanks of her base knowledge. She furthered this knowledge in Paris, learning more via the charming owner of an apothecary who helped her with teas and later, poisons. In the 20th century prior to traveling back in time, her hobby was botany while she went to nursing school and later became a battlefield nurse during WW2. In the 18th century, all of her skills both new and old, were used on the battlefields leading up to the Battle of Culloden. After her return to the present, she was the first female enrolled in medical school at Harvard. She later became a surgeon, and a very well-respected one thanks to her reputation for rarely ever losing patients.

Her dream life is in Scotland on a farm—she received a crash course on how to run a household and complete different farm chores by her sister-in-law in 1743. Claire would be able to help with the farming, laundry, feeding and milking of animals, and she can take care of the children as well. In fact, she loves children, and would have no problem adopting any younger-than-her residents who might seem like they need a little guidance.

As previously mentioned, she was on her way to live that cottagecore life, this simply isn't the place she thought she would. She doesn't panic or scare easily, and she can take command if needed, though she would rather be where people need the most aid. If chaos breaks out and people need medical attention, she'll run right into the fray, try and stop her. At this point in her canon, she's been imprisoned, tried, and beaten for the practice of witchcraft, plotted the assassination of a prince, has lost a child, she's been horribly assaulted (boy howdy would that explanation require a TW) and she straight-up near-decapitated her former friend Geillis for planning to murder Claire's only living daughter (at the time) in a ritual sacrifice. Oh, and at the point of her arrival, she'd been drowning in the midst of a hurricane. This show has everything, and it all proves that Claire Fraser is one strong woman.

Powers: No powers at this point except her awesome doctoring skills.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them.

the actual last time claire ever thought she knew what was going on.

There is one majorly obvious answer here: time travel. It impacted not one, but two marriages, gave her children she otherwise never would have had, and it taught her what she can and cannot live with.

Shortly after her time as a battlefield nurse is over, Claire and her husband, Frank, decide to go to Scotland for a second honeymoon. Because they're both nerds interested in two different things, Claire goes off alone to look at some cool flowers in a circle of standing stones. When she gets there, one particular stone starts making a buzzing noise so she touches it, and the next thing she knows, she's in the 18th century. Merely six weeks into her journey, after a failed escape attempt, she's forced to marry a young Scot named James Fraser in order to (semi) assure her protection by his clan. She went and got herself suspected of being a spy for the Scottish, so now the British have it out for her. After this is when she's nearly burned at the stake for being a witch, and so begins her journey to Jamie's childhood home on the farm when they go on the run.

There comes an opportunity for Claire to go back to her time at this point, back to Frank, but ultimately, she makes the decision to stay in the past with her hot Scottish husband. That choice gave her a daughter that she lost, nearly dying herself. Before that, she had to watch her husband as he was brutally tortured, but even knowing how hard the life would be, she stayed until, pregnant again, the Battle of Culloden drove Jamie to deliver her back to the stones. To remain would have been certain death, something she would have welcomed rather than a life without him. But the choice was made for her, by the child in her womb, and back to the 20th century she went.

Claire lived with one foot in the past for two decades, never moving on, simply existing. She lived a life that looked wonderful on paper; she had her daughter, Brianna, whom she agreed to let Frank parent as his own. He financed Claire going to medical school and loved her (until he moved on with a lover), and yet because of that one moment of touching stone, her heart was 200 years away, never to return. That event, traveling through time, changed her entire life course.

Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by?

If I had her as a doctor I would simply never recover.

Claire is a woman who lives by her Hippocratic oath unless you try to hurt her family, and then she might take a machete to your neck. Claire has a good heart, and wrestling with her morals was a big part of her hesitation to accept the past as her new present, even knowing she already loved her Hot Scottish Husband™. She kept her not-as-hot English husband's ring, wearing both wedding bands as a reminder of both her first real love and her true love. She tries to do the best she can to be a good person, but she is pretty damn good at collusion and spying, especially when it comes to trying to keep her family alive.

She has gone out of her way to say 'fuck the consequences' to help others. In a 'bless her heart' moment, Claire tries to stop a slave auction in Jamacia and winds up owning a man whom she later helps escape to a free encampment. During the various battles leading up to Culloden, Claire worked tirelessly keep the men she grew to care for and love alive. When the British were coming to her, rather than say 'fuck off' she helped them, gave them medical assistance, and cared, truly, whether or not they lived.

However.

When it's clear she isn't going to be able to change the past and make sure the Battle of Culloden isn't a bloodbath, she manages to convince Jamie to help her poison Prince Charles Suart, which would effectively end the reason for turmoil. They would've gone through with it too, had Jamie's uncle not overheard everything. Claire's hands were over Jamie's on the knife when they killed him so that he wouldn't alert the Prince. Prior to that, in France, Claire had no problem lying often in order to sabatoge the war effort. Before that, she accused a man who tried to poison her of sorcery, having him executed. In summation: Claire strives to save lives, but she's the undisputed queen of Fuck Around and Find Out.

What quality or qualities do they admire most?

Funnily enough, people with their own strong moral code they stand by, even in the direst of circumstances, are top of the list. She will feel more respect for someone who uses their smarts to outwit and outplay versus using money and influence. (Which isn't to say she's above the latter, but the first is simply more impressive.) One of the first things that endeared her to Jamie was his ability to hear her, grow, and change. He doesn't at first, but he begins to, and that's when she begins to fall in love.

Claire expects no one to be perfect, but she does expect them to do better when aware. Politeness, and an eagerness to understand new things are her love language. Those who humble themselves when they know they aren't the smartest one in the room is a quality she most admires in men especially. She is accepting of every and all types, and has extremely low tolerance for those who are bigots, nasty, or just plain rude, so anyone who challenges those types is a star, in her book. (Claire herself has a habit of inserting herself into things, and after this backfires more than once she begins to reel herself in.) She very much appreciates a good nerd, preferring books to electronics, and she loves a good conversationalist. Above all else, making a good cup of tea is a top-tier quality in her humble, British opinion.

Do they have a part of themselves they dislike?

well, she tried.

As of this canon point, the biggest thing Claire dislikes about herself is her ability as a mother. She was quite distant after Brianna was born with the convenient excuse of medical school. Then, being a doctor was quite clearly her passion above motherhood. When she lost everything she loved in the past (not just her husband, but a dead daughter, an adopted son, her sister and brother-in-law, nieces and nephews) she never quite climbed out of that black hole of grief. Every time she looked at Brianna, she only saw Jamie in that firery red hair and the strength of her profile. At first, looking at her daughter was like the bandaid being pulled slowly away inch by agonizing inch until her heart was raw.

None of this is to say that she was a neglectful parent. She loves her daughter fiercely and would do anything for her. But in order to preserve her heart, Claire kept Bree at a distance whether consciously or not. She couldn't fake being a happy house wife no matter how hard she tried, and she always hated that she couldn't pull it together enough for Brianna. It fills her with guilt now, having to think about the fact that she's now actively chosen to leave her daughter for good.

When Claire left the 18th century, she assumed Jamie died in the Battle of Culloden because of what she knows of history—she has no way of knowing this is true, because Frank (a history professor) hides the truth from her. For 20 years, she believes Jamie is dead until, after Frank's death, she finds out he lived and that she could, in theory, go back to him. Ultimately she chooses him over staying with Brianna in the present. Even though it was with Bree's blessing, the guilt is still there: they were only just beginning to repair their relationship after Claire told her the truth about her biological father. It hurts if she stops to think about it, how much time she lost with her baby, and she's very aware of all the moments she's given up to be with her love again.

There are a few other things worth mentioning that she dislikes about herself: she is a terrible liar with a barely passable poker face, she's vain and she knows it, and she has a short temper when the shit is hitting the fan—she hurts feelings and asks questions later.

What is their sign, and why?

The Empress. Based on the answers in this application, I feel like this fits the most with Claire because she wants to heal and help. Even if it's with weeding the garden or fetching supplies. She's a natural-born helper first and foremost.

PERSONALITY

By any standard, Claire is a woman ahead of her own time in 1945, and an outright anomaly in the 18th century. Her unusual upbringing, together with her six years as an army combat nurse, shaped Claire into a thoroughly independent woman undaunted by rough living conditions and physical danger.

She is an eminently sensible person, though her considerable personal freedom from a young age shows through in her stubborn aversion to taking orders without questioning them. When it comes to practicing medicine, Claire takes charge and keeps a cool head in dire situations.

In the 20th century, she stands out as a woman in medical school, and in the 18th she draws the ire of fellow surgeons, an exclusively male profession at the time. She does not 'sit down and be quiet' and she demands her voice be heard equally. She is an advocate for civil rights, far ahead of her time no matter which century she lands in.

Claire's a good listener, sometimes selfish, but always fiercely protective of those she cares for.

Claire was known as the Herald of the Timeless during event 18, and for a short while could manipulate time by rewinding it.
As of the end of event 18 (May 2024), Claire is in a relationship with Jon Snow, after believing they were immortal gods for centuries.
As of event 18, Claire's hair is permanently silver and dimly glows reminiscent of moonlight.
In late July/early August of 2024, Claire went on an archeological journey and discovered two identical chalices (link is to the top-down view) featuring an intricate design inside. Both were given back to the Luna community.
As of the end of event 20, Claire can control bees up to a range of 30 feet.
Event 20 has caused the locals to believe she isn't religious enough for Solvunn.
